<p>I have been able to work out 3 days now on a plan to do either step or the treadmill every other day. I usually do crunches, lunges and stretching afterwards. Sometimes I do pushups too. Not nearly as ambitious as you two, but gotta start somewhere as I&#8217;ve been very inconsistent. My cooking and eating plan has been quite good however I must report. You can check out my latest recipes on ddcastro.com where I&#8217;ve just added a few things. My student videos have provided some new good ideas for eating.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I just wanted to say I am continually inspired by both Chloe and Denise and the dedication you both have for health! I was with Chloe over Thanksgiving week and she looks fabulous; healthy all over and I can see her body is firmer everywhere! The soup and quinoa recipes are great and I want to try both of them. I love modifying recipes, like not using butter or cream,  and using fresh ingredients, and boy does it amp up the flavor. I made my tomato soup recipe for the whole fam. Chloe and Lewis liked it and I got lots of compliments. Oh by the way, both of my brother-in-laws came up to me during our gathering and asked me how much weight I&#8217;d lost and how I did it. That was very nice. Just wanted to update on what I&#8217;ve been eating lately as the weather changes&#8230;something awesome that I look forward to in the morning is oatmeal with soymilk and a crushed up honey oat bar and cinnamon on top. It&#8217;s so good, and if you put half a baked apple in it, it would taste like apple pie!</p>
<p>I might have mentioned this&#8230;but I also make a sort of mexican salad mix with qinoa, black beans, cilantro, tomatoes, corn, and onions that I can combine with lots of things. I mix it with salad with cooked shrimp on top sometimes, or spread it on top of a tortilla with some salsa and sprinkle cheese on top- pop that in the oven and you have a nice qinoa pizza! I&#8217;ve also mixed it with scrambled eggs in the morning- that&#8217;s really good. It&#8217;s just a good healthy mix to add some fiber and protein to whatever you&#8217;re eating.</p>

<p>But starts with 8-10 whole peeled garlic cloves sauteed in olive oil with onions until carmelized, then add the tomatoes and a couple of slices of sourdough bread and the chicken broth to soak up, then take it to the blender. Wow, it was a great texture and flavor, really rich without having any cream in it. Hope you&#8217;ll try it or a version of your own. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s feasting time! In order to keep from turning into a potbelly pig this week with all the deserts that I will be sure to encounter, I&#8217;m going to limit myself to only eating deserts on Thursday, and only one. Deserts are my major major maajjoorrr weakness, without limits I&#8217;ll just go all out. I&#8217;m also planning on just snacking on Thanksgiving instead of gorging on one big meal. I&#8217;m going to eat a little bit of everything because I hate that feeling of being so overly full. It&#8217;s so hard to not overeat during the holidays with all the good food around, but I would rather be able to fit into my jeans when I come back to school!</p>
<p>Also, I&#8217;ll be away from school and yoga and my biking routine, so I&#8217;ll need to figure something else out as far as exercise. I started off really well- I was in the mountains all weekend- we took a 4-hour snow hike one days through a foot of snow without snowshoes. It was so beautiful, but talk about burn. Ouch. Then we took another one-hour hike through not-so-deep-snow another day. Maybe while I&#8217;m home I&#8217;ll do some kettle ball with my mom&#8230;and probably go horseback riding and take walks.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This week I was so fortunate that even though it was cold, only 35-40 most days, I got to ride my horse 4 times. I rode bareback 2X and that works my legs and butt. I felt sore that next day. I also did kettle ball 3X and once without the tape because our VCR crapped out again. John and I walked 1 hr. today. John hiked 1  1/2 hrs. 2X and did kettle ball 2 X. I did an eat cheat though. I ate 1/2 a donut (so much junk food in our staff lounge at school) and we both had a hamburger/chips lunch with friends on Sat. We are committed this winter to not letting the cold weather stop us from exercising outdoors as much as possible.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s been a while since I&#8217;ve posted, but I haven&#8217;t been slacking on my health plan! I think the few things that I have changed in my diet this year have contributed greatly to the way I feel and look. It&#8217;s taken a while to be noticeable, but I&#8217;m starting to notice. For instance, instead of cereal- which is often loaded with hidden sugars- and milk in the morning, I have oatmeal with soymilk that has no sugar added, or I have greek yogurt with some kind of fruit. Occasionally I&#8217;ll have a couple eggs. I still don&#8217;t eat or buy bread, and instead I make wraps with a whole wheat tortilla, qinoa, spinach, and shrimp or fish. I don&#8217;t buy meat except for fish, I drink a lot of green tea, I always keep a lot of veggies and hummus around, and I don&#8217;t eat a lot of packaged goods.</p>
<p>The one thing I don&#8217;t cut out is sugar <img src='http://s2.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />  I can&#8217;t do it! Too big of a sweet tooth! Although I don&#8217;t eat it every day, and when I do indulge it&#8217;s small amounts. Some cookies here, an ice cream there&#8230;As long as I balance it with the rest of my diet I think it doesn&#8217;t hurt. It helps to not keep a bunch of sweets in my house. The only thing I have in case I want some sugar are animal crackers because they&#8217;re not too bad for you. I have cut out some big sugar things, such as soda, which I don&#8217;t ever drink unless I&#8217;m making a mixed alcoholic drink. Not even diet soda- that stuff will get ya.</p>
<p>As far as working out goes, I think biking to and from class everyday has contributed to my shape and my feeling good. On top of that I run or do the eliptical in the gym a 2-3 times a week, yoga 1-2 times a week, and throw in some other spontaneous exercise such as bike riding on trails, taking hikes, etc.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s nice that people have noticed by efforts- it makes me feel much better about what I&#8217;m doing. I&#8217;ve had some friends comment and ask if I&#8217;ve been working out. That always helps with motivation!</p>
<p>So small changes that we make are not noticeable right away, but over time they&#8217;ll start to become noticeable if we remain consistent. Patience is key!</p>

It has a very long beach and John and I walked 1  1/2hrs. along the beach 5 of the days we were there. One day, we drove to Savannah and came back and walked for 1 hr. Then Friday, we rented bikes and rode the beach and into this gorgeous housing area, kinda like Pebble Beach, for 3  1/2 hrs. It was so fun and riding on the beach was a new experience. We had a great time and felt like we took advantage of all the outdoor activity available. Sometimes I just think I should have no body fat and a flat stomach by now. I realize that may never happen considering my age and body type and I&#8217;ve only been consistent with this plan for 4 mths.
